SOARAWAY Celtic continued their bid to finish the domestic season unbeaten with a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock at Parkhead this afternoon.
Brendan Rodgers’ side, seven days after securing their sixth successive Premiership title, dominated for long spells and Stuart Armstrong netted to give them a deserved half-time lead.
But they needed goals from Scott Sinclair and James Forrest after Killie had levelled in the 66th minute through Jordan Jones.
The home fans wondered if they were watching a rerun of the 1-1 midweek draw against Partick Thistle.
The breakthrough came in the 22nd minute when Armstrong collected the ball 25 yards from goal and smashed a shot into the corner of the net.
Killie’s overworked defence managed to stop Patrick Roberts early in the second period and then the on-loan Manchester City winger set up Sinclair to head just wide.
But Killie stunned them with the leveller as Jordan Jones’ effort spun just away from the reach of Celtic ‘keeper Craig Gordon.
That kicked Celtic back into life and they were back in front within six minutes, Sinclair finishing from close range after Roberts had knocked the ball across goal.
The third arrived in the 76th minute Forrest reacted quickly to nod home after sub Moussa Dembele’s shot had come back off the woodwork.
