ABERDEEN were keeping quiet today on reports midfielder Peter Pawlett is poised to quit Pittodrie in the summer.
It has been claimed the 26-year-old is set to sign a pre-contract agreement with English League One side MK Dons, who are managed by former Hearts boss Robbie Neilsen.
Pawlett is one of four players in the Dons’ first-team squad whose contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
Despite being born in Hull, he picked up seven caps and scored one goal for the Scotland Under-21 team.
Neilson is reported to be an admirer of the player and could make his move if Derek McInnes’ outfit don’t make a positive move to persuade the player to remain at the club he signed for 10 years ago.
UPDATE – Derek McInnes has just confirmed that Peter Paulette is to leave the club in the summer.
“It’s been indicated that Peter will probably sign a pre-contract with MK Dons, something we’ve aware of for the last couple of weeks,” McInnes said this afternoon.
“We made Peter a good offer but he’s indicated that going to England is something he’s always wanted to do.”
“Whatever happens, Peter has a role to play between now and the end of the season to help us achieve our objectives and if he does decide to go, we’ll wish him well with that”
