FUMING Mark McGhee slammed referee Andrew Dallas after he ordered off Carl McHugh as Motherwell lost 3-0 to Hearts at Fir Park.

The match official showed the Well star a straight red for what looked like a strong but fair challenge on Don Cowie early in the second-half with the game goalless.

McGhee had no doubt Dallas blundered and insisted his club will launch an appeal – as it did, unsuccessfully, when striker Scott McDonald was sent off against Rangers last week.

He said: “I’ve watched it over and over – it was never in a million years a sending off. It’s a joke.

“It was a great tackle. He cleanly won the ball. It’s just a ridiculous decision. It’s cost us the game.

“He booked Ben Heneghan for a fantastic tackle in the middle of the park. What’s it all about?

“It’s hugely frustrating. People from the outside will think Hearts have well beaten us, but that’s not the case, at all.”
