RANGERS boss Mark Warburton is keen to land Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 21-year-old Spaniard is currently at La Liga outfit Granada on a temporary transfer, but is eager to get back to the UK and a move to Ibrox might suit all parties.
Warburton is believed to have already made the trip to Spain to open discussions with Toral.
The youngster is a product of Barcelona’s youth academy. He made his first appearance in senior football under Warburton at Brentford, during a season-long loan deal in 2014 and went on to become a key player in the side that pushed for promotion to the Premier League.
Now Warburton – who had Gideon Zelalem on loan from the Gunners last season – is hoping to persuade Arsene Wenger to give the go-ahead for Toral to switch from Spain to Scotland.
Toral spent last season at Birmingham and was voted the club’s Player of the Year by his team-mates and supporters.
However, the midfield man has made only five starts for Granada this season as they fight against relegation.
