KIERNAN TO FIGHT TWO-GAME BAN

0

RANGERS defender Rob Kiernan will contest his two-match ban for violent conduct at a hearing next week.

The SFA have confirmed the Ibrox side have rejected the offer of the suspension the centre-half received for “striking” St Johnstone defender Steven Anderson.

The Perth skipper claimed he had been punched in the ribs by Kiernan during the 1-1 Premiership draw at McDiarmid Park on December 28.

TV cameras caught the action and there was certain movement between the two players after the ball had been cleared following a set-piece.

Kiernan will argue his case during a hearing on January 12 and, if unsuccessful, he will miss two games against Motherwell on January 21 and 28, the first in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox. The match a week later is in the Premiership at Fir Park.
