ABERDEEN are pondering a loan swoop for Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie and informed sources in Glasgow are saying that the deal is on.
The 21-year-old Highlander has struggled for regular first team football since signing for £500,000 from Inverness Caley Thistle in 2015.
However, he could get some game-time at Pittodrie with Derek McInnes, who has also been linked with Kris Commons, an admirer.
The playmaker, who had previously stated he wasn’t interested in going anywhere in the transfer window, is believed to have a long-term future at Parkhead, but Brendan Rodgers may be persuaded to let him go until the end of the season.
The Hoops recently added to their midfield area with the £2.8million arrival of Ivorian teenager Kouassi Eboue making competition ever more intense.
Rodgers admitted yesterday players could be leaving this month.
He said: “There will maybe be one or two who will go out on a loan basis. I suspect there will be some change in the squad before the window.”
Christie has scored one goal in seven appearances for Celtic this season.
Norwich youngster James Maddison spent the first half of the season with the Dons on loan, but no agreement has been reached with the English Championship side over a return.
Aberdeen are fighting with Rangers for second spot in the Scottish Premiership and McInnes sees Christie making a difference and ensuring that the Dons remain the second force in Scottish football.
