ANDERLECHT are lining up a bid for Celtic’s frozen-out Belgian international centre-back Dedryck Boyata.
Brendan Rodgers handed the 26-year-old defender, signed by Ronny Deila for £1.5million from Manchester City in June 2015, his only start in the 1-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on November 18.
Boyata still has two-and-a-half years of his contract to run and that could present a problem for the Belgian giants.
They may not be able to match his Parkhead terms and could try to lure him back to his homeland in a loan move. It is unlikely Rodgers would stand in his way.
Certainly the player has struggled since his move from the Etihad to Glasgow.
Boyata’s lack of first team football at City was obvious from his early days at Parkhead as the team crashed out of the Champions League qualifiers and failed to win in six Europa League ties.
Injury forced the defender out of Belgium’s Euro 16 plans and he has failed to pick up the pace since the arrival of Rodgers.
He could now be one of a handful of first team squad players at Celtic heading for loan deals in the January transfer window.
