HIBS boss Neil Lennon is lining up a move for St Johnstone attacker Danny Swanson and frozen out Celtic midfielder Kris Commons.
The Perth star is out of contract in the summer and the Easter Road gaffer is plotting a pre-contract deal with the 29-year-old former Hearts winger.
Lennon may even attempt to push for a move in next month’s transfer window, but the Saints won’t be keen to lose a player who has already hit 11 goals this season.
Swanson has been in fine form for the Perth side with a few calls for him to be included in the Scotland international squad squad.
The former Berwick Rangers, Dundee United, Peterborough and Coventry ace was linked with struggling Championship side Rotherham last month.
However, any possibility of a move was scuppered with Kenny Jackett’s shock resignation last month only weeks after replacing the sacked Alan Stubbs.
Celtic will not be hard to deal with regarding any move from Hibs to re-unite Lennon with Kris Commons. The attacking midfielder is in the final six months of his contract and has been informed by Brendan Rodgers that he is free to sort out a move away in January.
Commons is reluctant to move south at this time in his career and is settled in the West of Scotland. A move to Easter Road seems the likely option with a loan arrangement involving Celtic subsidising the player’s wages seems to be the way it will go.
Commons was a hugely important player for both Neil Lennon and Ronny Deila and could be the final piece in Lennon’s Easter Road jigsaw as he seeks to win the Championship and bring the Scottish Cup Holders back into the top flight of Scottish football.
