CELTIC’S on-fire frontman Leigh Griffiths and Rangers skipper Lee Wallace are injury doubts ahead of the Hogmanay Glasgow derby clash at Ibrox.
The Hoops hitman scored Celtic ‘s opening goal in their 3-0 win over Hamilton Accies yesterday before sustaiing a calf problem and being replaced at half-time by Moussa Dembele.
Brendan Rodgers was hopeful Griffiths would be fine and said his substitution was only precautionary, but warned: “It’s one of those, if we don’t take care of it, it could go on for four to six weeks.”
At Ibrox, Rangers skipper Lee Wallace sustained a more serious-looking hamstring injury near the end of the 1-0 win over Inverness Caley Thistle.
Wallace wasn’t taken off by boss Mark Warburton, who had used all of his substitutes, but was forced to move up front to avoid leaving the defence exposed as he clearly struggled to get about the park.
Warburton remained hopeful of having Wallace available for the champions’ visit to Govan, saying: “We have to see how he is.
“We thought it was an impact injury from the corner. He got a bang going for the ball.
“We will see how he presents later on this evening but hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”
