THREE DONS STARS GET INTERNATIONAL CALL-UP

0
MARTIN O’NEILL has called in three Aberdeen players to his provisional Republic of Ireland World Cup qualifying squad.

Striker Adam Rooney, winger Jonny Hayes and keeper Danny Rogers, currently on loan at Championship side Falkirk, have all been put on international stand-by for the qualifier against Austria in Vienna on November 12.

Hayes is the only one of the trio to have been capped at senior level, having played twice for his country earlier this year in the build-up to the Euro 2016 Finals in France this summer.

The Republic of Ireland are currently joint top of Group D with Serbia on seven points after three games. The Austrians can draw level on points if they win a week on Saturday.

Injury has ruled out Rob Elliot, Alan Judge and Shane Long, while several players will be assessed by the FAI medical staff upon reporting  for duty on Monday.
