WIZARD OF OZ Tom Rogic started the magic when he lashed in a left-foot curler in Celtic’s 3-0 win over Aberdeen to lift the Betfred League Cup Final this afternoon.
James Forrest netted a second before the interval and Moussa Dembele claimed a third via the penalty spot as the Hoops celebrated winning their 100th trophy success in their glittering history.
Socceroos star Rogic strolled onto a Jozo Simunovic pass before bringing the ball back onto his left foot and firing low past Dons keeper Joe Lewis for the opener in the 16th minute.
Man of the Match Forrest then drove through the heart of the Pittodrie rearguard to double the advantage in the 37th minute.
Dembele added a third from the penalty spot after Anthony O’Connor had brought down Forrest as the Hoops wrapped up their milestone major trophy.
Rogic said: “I think the fans deserve it, we deserve it as the playing squad because we have worked hard all season.
“It’s no less than we deserve.
“We won 3-0, but it’s not easy against Aberdeen. They have pushed us very close in the last few years, but I feel this season we have gone up a level.
“There are days like this that you enjoy playing football.’
Forrest said: “We are absolutely delighted, we have done brilliantly to get to the Final and obviously winning it is tremendous and we are going to enjoy it.
“I thought we were really strong in the first-half – we started really well and that set us off for the game and I am delighted we managed to win it.
‘We are absolutely delighted to win another trophy for this club and buzzing to have won it.”
Dembele added: “I said I was coming to Celtic to win honours and I hope this is just the start of many.”
