PARTICK THISTLE midfielder Ryan Edwards has agreed to extend his stay with the Maryhil club until 2018.
The Australian has played for the Jags in every match this season and he scored in the recent 2-2 draw with Hamilton.
Edwards was signed by Alan Archibald in September 2015 and he played 17 times last season, scoring twice against Hamilton and Dundee United.
The 23-year-old started his career at Reading and had loan spells with Fleetwood, Perth Glory and Tranmere before moving to Scotland.
A statement from the club said: “We are pleased to announce this morning, that Ryan Edwards has triggered a contract extension with the club, meaning he will remain at Firhill until the summer of 2018.
“The young Australian endured a frustrating start to his Thistle career, as he spent January of this year on international duty, but has gone on to establish himself as an important part of Alan Archibald’s squad. The energetic midfielder, has bagged three goals in his first 15 months as a Partick Thistle player.”
