ST JOHNSTONE attacker Danny Swanson will watch Scotland’s World Cup qualifier against England at Wembley in his father’s pub in Leith.
But the Perth midfielder would much rather be closer to the action on Friday – on the field against Wayne Rooney and Co!
The Saints star has not yet given up on his international dream. He took his goal tally to the season to 10 in his side’s 2-2 draw against Hearts at Tynecastle on Saturday to underline his form in this campaign.strachan

Swanson, then with Dundee United, was called up by Craig Levein in October 2011 for the Euro Championship qualifiers against Liechtenstein and Spain.

He didn’t feature, but was subsequently in line to face Cyprus in a friendly the following month. However, a medial ligament injury scuppered his chances of representing his country.

But Swanson would love to attract the attention of Gordon Strachan in the near future. He admitted: “I do think about it, but if you look at the squad, even though we are not doing great, it’s still strong.

“I just hope he (Strachan) is thinking about it. I am probably not on the fringes of the squad, but I like to think I am because I want to be positive.

“I loved it when I got called up before. It was one of the best experiences of my life and I never even played.

“I just feel I am doing all the right things and maybe one day he will come and see me, you never know. It would be massive for me.”
