NEIL DONCASTER ORDERS LIVINGSTON TO REPLAY CUP-TIE “IN THE INTERESTS OF SPORTING INTEGRITY”

LIVINGSTON have been ordered to replay their Irn-Bru Cup-tie after fielding an ineligible player in their 2-1 win at Northern Irish side Crusaders.

Defender Alan Lithgow played the full 90 minutes at Seaview Stadium on October 7, despite serving a Scottish FA suspension at the time.

A sub-committee of the SPFL’s board charged Livingston with the offence yesterday and the club accepted they had been in breach of regulations.

As a result, the League One side were censured, fined £4,000 and ordered to replay the match with Crusaders at the same venue a week today.

SPFL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: “In the interests of sporting integrity and fairness to both sides, the game will be replayed.”
