He said he would be the best player in Scottish football, he mocked Brendan Rodgers for having white teeth and claimed he was having a mid-life crisis, he then said that Celtic skipper Scott Brown was not in his league. Joey Barton loves to produce sound bites for the media and to raise his media presence – but sadly for the Rangers midfielder it seems he can’t back up his talk with actions on the park.

In the aftermath of Rangers being battered 5-1 by rivals Celtic at Celtic Park, Barton posted a ‘no excuses’ policy on his official twitter page and that was the catalyst for a fair amount of replies mocking him.
