Rangers struggle to a 1-1 draw against Hamilton Accies All the reaction to the opening day draw at Ibrox

1

Ahead of the league season kicking off at Ibrox this afternoon, the media, players and anyone related to Rangers were mentioning how they would be challenging for the title this season.

We had Joey Barton claim that opposition players were not in his league and city rivals Celtic had brought in Brendan Rodgers as their new manager as they were ‘scared’ about the Ibrox side’s promotion to the top flight.

All eyes were on Ibrox as Mark Warburton’s side welcomed Hamilton Accies in what was expected to be their first win of the season – but Accies and Ali Crawford had other ideas and gave the Lanarkshire side the lead stunning the Rangers fans and pundits alike.

On the hour mark, Warburton made two changes as Rangers continued to chase the game and they had an immediate effect. Harry Forrester, who replaced the ineffective Niko Krancjar, flighted a ball into the path of Martyn Waghorn who slotted the ball into the back of the Accies net.

The game finished 1-1, but it was a double blow for Rangers as not only did they take a battering over their pre-season rhetoric but they finished the game with ten men after Waghorn looked to have picked up a hamstring injury.

Not the start that Rangers and their fans were looking for, while Accies may feel a tad disappointed to just leave Govan with a point – but a point they certainly deserved.

Here is the best of the reaction to the opening game of the league season:

And who wants to see Ali Crawford megging Joey Barton? Not in his league!
