Celtic to face Hapoel Be’er Sheva in Champions League play-offs Lucrative group stages awaits the winner


Celtic have been drawn to face Israeli side Hapoel Be’er Sheva in the Champions League play-off round.

The Scottish champions will play host to Hapoel, who are making their debut in the competition, on Wednesday 17th August at Celtic Park, with the second leg on the 23rd August in Israel.

Celtic progressed to the play-off round after a 2-1 win over Astana on Wednesday night, with 20 year old Moussa Dembele scoring a dramatic late penalty. While Hapoel Be’er Sheva defeated Olympiacos 1-0 on aggregate in the previous round.

The last time Celtic graced the group stages of the Champions League was in season 2013-14, under then manager Neil Lennon.
