Celtic could face Zalgiris or Astana in Champions League

Celtic could face Zalgiris Vilnius or Astana in the third qualifying round of the Champions League if they can turn around the 1-0 defeat to Lincoln Red Imps in midweek.

The Scottish champions were defeated by the semi-pro Gibraltar side on Tuesday night in the first leg tie, a result that shocked many in the game.

Lithuanian side Zalgiris and Astana of Kazakhstan are tied at 0-0 ahead of the second leg of their tie on Wednesday.

The winners of the third qualifying round progress to the Champions League play-off round, one stage before the group stages of the competition. The team that loses will drop into the play-off round of the Europa League.

Winners at the Champions League play-off round secure qualification to the group stage with the losing side dropping into the Europa League group stage.
