Kranjcar claims Celtic in Champions League will help Rangers Croat Niko Kranjcar takes a pasting after Rangers defeat

Rangers new boy Niko Kranjcar believes that Celtic’s continued participation in the Champions League will benefit the Ibrox side in the race for the Scottish Premiership title.

Following Burnley’s 3-1 defeat of Rangers in a friendly at Ibrox, Kranjcar was asked by a member of the Scottish mainstream media if Celtic made the group stages would it help Rangers.

The former Croatian international said: “Yes, it probably would. But it’s up to us to determine how we go about our business and not think about Celtic.

“It is not the Old Firm games which will win you the title. It is dropping points against teams that you don’t expect to.

“Obviously the Old Firm games are huge. But it is concentrating on every single Saturday because they’re the points which are going to win you the league.”

However, it seems that not everyone was impressed with Krancjar’s comments – which were published across the Sunday newspapers.
