St.Mirren appoint David Farrell as new assistant manager

Struggling championship side St.Mirren have appointed David Farrell as their new assistant manager, linking up with Alex Rae once again.

Farrell, who was Rae’s assistant at Dundee for three years between 2006 and 2008, has signed a deal until the summer of 2017.

Taking to twitter following his appointment, Farrell said:

The 46-year-old is a former defender who had spells with Hibernian, Partick Thistle, Airdrieonians, Clydebank, Stranraer and Albion Rovers.

Last year, Farrell took up writing about football with his own personal blog while driving a taxi, before publishing his first book about his career titled ‘Taxi for Farrell‘.

His first game in the dugout is the Renfrewshire derby against Morton at Cappielow.
