Celtic take highly-rated Norwegian Kristoffer Ajer on trial

Norwegian midfielder Kristoffer Ajer has flown into Glasgow to start a week long trial with Scottish champions Celtic.

The 17-year-old who plays for IK Start in his native Norway, was given permission to travel to Glasgow by his club, will start training on Wednesday.

If the trial is successful the attacking midfielder could become Ronny Deila’s first signing of the January transfer window and with one year left on his contract with Start – the Norwegians are looking to cash in on their club captain.

Still at a relatively young age, Ajer has been watched by a number of clubs this season including Paris Saint Germain, Liverpool, Roma and Arsenal.

Ajer signed for IK Start from Lillestrom SK in July 2014, and has made 47 appearances scoring 13 goals.

IK Start are currently 14th in the Norwegian Tippeligaen.
