Celtic linked with Dutch striker Wout Weghorst

Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Dutch striker Wout Weghorst from Heracles, according to De Telegraaf.

The 23-year-old was set to sign for Cardiff City after a deal was struck with Heracles, but the Dutch newspaper claim that the deal is now off – for the time being – and that Celtic are looking to swoop for the player.

The striker’s contract is up at the end of this season [although the club have an option for a further year]and a pre-contract agreement can be signed with the player or Celtic could decide to offer a nominal fee to the Dutch side to secure his services in the January transfer window.

Weghorst signed for Heracles in July 2014 and has went on to make 47 appearances for the Eredivisie side, scoring 14 times.

Heracles are currently fourth in the Dutch top division, 11 points behind league leaders Ajax.
