Ikechi Anya out of Scotland’s EURO 2016 qualification double header

Watford midfielder Ikechi Anya has been ruled out of Scotland’s final two EURO 2016 qualifiers with Poland and Gibraltar.

Anya had been struggling with a calf injury and missed training earlier this week, despite the hope that the winger would pass a fitness test, manager Gordon Strachan has now confirmed that the 27-year-old has returned to his club for treatment on his injury.

At the pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday’s game against Poland, Strachan said: “Ikechi is not going to make it, he has a tight calf so he has gone back to get treatment at Watford.”

Anya has been an integral part of Strachan’s squad and he will be sorely missed against Poland.
