Fan’s View: Dundee United 2015-16

1

Is your club prepared for the season ahead?

Maybe? It’s hard to say. If you look at the squad on paper we have plenty of depth but only time will tell if the quality is there.

What signing are you most looking forward to seeing?

Rodney Sneijder. If he has even half the ability of his brother Wesley then we are in for a real treat.

Key Man?

John Souttar. The youngster oozes class and found his true home in front of the defence last season. If he stays fit he will be a cert for Young Player of the Year, if not Player of the Year itself.

Weakness?

We are taking a big risk in letting three 22-year old keepers battle it out for the number 1 shirt, especially when they have all made howlers in pre-season. Luis Zwick has given fans hope that he might be something special but he has literally never played a professional match so it’s a huge gamble.

spence-mcnamaraManager – How would you rate him and can he improve upon last year?

It’s difficult to rate McNamara. He has shown United fans the best football of a generation with Gauld & Co. but last season was horrific. We need to keep the ball on the ground, press opposition and play with more intensity. The good news is McNamara has spoken about this in interviews so we just need to see if he can filter this down to the players on the park.

Anyone or any club you are worried about that may cause problems for you?

Aberdeen. Not only are they a strong team but they play in a direct manner that we have always struggled to cope with. I’m not even going to talk about Celtic!

Expectations for this season?

I would be hoping for third place and a cup final.

What was the highlight of last season?

The semi-final victory against Aberdeen. The victory may have given United fans completely false hope as it turned out! But still, it was a nice day.

What was the low point?

March Madness. Losing Armstrong and Mackay-Steven to Celtic and then having to endure four games in a row against them was truly horrific.

Who will win the Premiership?

Celtic.

Who will be relegated?

Hamilton Accies with Kilmarnock in the playoffs.
