Ryan Jack named new Aberdeen skipper

Aberdeen have announced that midfielder Ryan Jack has been appointed as captain succeeding Russell Anderson who retired at the end of the season.

Defender Mark Reynolds who was vice captain continues in that role.

Manager Derek McInnes said: “Ryan will relish the responsibility, he is the ideal choice.”

Meanwhile, Aberdeen have appointed former Celtic and Hibernian keeper Gordon Marshall as Jim Leighton’s replacement as the Dons goalkeeping coach and will sign on at the end of the week.

Marshall is the second of Motherwell’s backroom staff to depart this week following chief scout Gary Owers departure to become Gateshead assistant manager.
