SWPL champions Glasgow City played host to French champions Paris St Germain at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium on Sunday afternoon with both sides fighting it out in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter finals for the very first time.

PSG, despite being newcomers to this stage, were odds-on favourites given the money behind them and the talent in their ranks over City who were rank outsiders to progress to the semi finals.

Despite going down 2-0 to PSG, with the French side’s class being evident, City defended well in front of nearly 2000 fans. Overturning the score in Saturday’s second leg will be a tough order for Eddie Wolecki Black’s side, but as past performances have shown you can never write off City.
