Dundee United’s Paul Paton to stand trial for alleged assault

Dundee United midfielder Paul Paton is to stand trial for allegedly assaulting Celtic goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska.

The 27-year-old Northern Irish international reportedly struck the Polish keeper repeatedly in the head on October 20th 2014.

Papers submitted to Glasgow Sheriff Court allege that Paton assaulted Zaluska on Ashton Lane and Byres Road in the west end of Glasgow ‘whilst acting with another’ – reportedly Chris McCluskey.

Paisley-born Paton, was not present at court today but his lawyer submitted a letter on his behalf pleading not guilty to the assault charge.

A trial is set for October this year.
