Podolski left out of Europa League squad to face Celtic

World Cup winner Lukas Podolski will not face Celtic in this season’s Europa League in Inter colours after manager Roberto Mancini failed to pick the striker for the Serie A side’s squad for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

With only one slot open to register a player who had previously played in club competition group stage match, Mancini elected to select former Bayern Munich player Xherdan Shaqiri instead.

It means that Podolski, who played for Arsenal in the group stages of the Champions League misses out and he will have to sit out the match against the Scottish champions.

Former Newcastle United player Davide Santon, who signed for Inter on Monday, was selected for the 23 man squad.
