Petrofac Training Cup – Quarter Final Review

The three quarter finals at the weekend bizarrely all ended up with the same result! Though intriguing ties in themselves this was all about single goals. My match of the day was one I thought Falkirk would shade but former Ayr United and Rangers midfielder Anthony Marenghi put Stranraer through just before half time. I also thought that Jim Duffy’s Greenock Morton would squeeze past Alloa Athletic but Ryan McCord got a late winner to send the Wasps into the semi final pot. Finally I reckoned that it would also be close at Balmoor but plumped – once again – for the wrong victor as Livingston beat Peterhead thanks to an extra time winner from Miles Hippolyte.

Rangers will face East Fife on Tuesday the 21st October as their quarter-final was postponed due to international call ups.

The draw for the semi finals took place today and the following ties came out of the bag: –

Livingston v Stranraer – October 12
Alloa Athletic v East Fife or Rangers – date TBC
