Celtic sign Serbian striker Stefan Scepovic from Sporting Gijon

Celtic have announced the signing of Serbian striker Stefan Scepovic for a fee of around £2.3m from Sporting Gijon, signing a four-year deal.

Th 24-year-old becomes Ronny Deila’s sixth summer signing following the signings of Craig Gordon, Jo Inge Berget, Aleksandar Tonev, Jason Denayer and Mubarak Wakaso.

The deal to sign the Serbian international looked to be dead and buried on Sunday after he intimated his desire to join Getafe, but financial constraints on the Spanish side forced them to drop their interest in the player and the move to Celtic was finalised after a dramatic u-turn on transfer deadline day.

The former Partizan Belgrade and Club Brugge striker scored 23 goals in 42 games for Gijon last season.
