I had tipped shocks at potentially 5 encounters and each one threw up an interesting story. Firstly Albion Rovers managed to squeeze past Deveronvale 1-0 and to earn a 4th round draw against Motherwell whilst Raith Rovers got the better of East Stirlingshire on the Sunday 2-0; Raith get Dundee next. Montrose did go down 2-1 to Fraserburgh and the Highland League outfit now have Stenhousemuir or Annan Athletic in the next round. For Stranraer they have a tricky replay with Auchinleck Talbot but it was nearly all tears as Jamie Longworth got an equaliser late in the second half to make it 2-2 for Stranraer; Clyde are awaiting the winners. That was also the score in the tie between Stenhousemuir and Annan Athletic and it also took a late equaliser, this time from Kieran Brannan to keep the higher placed team in the cup. They replay on the 9th with Fraserburgh in the next round the reward.

The ones I struggled to call were similarly close with Brechin City going to Arbroath and winning 2-0 so they face Forfar Athletic. Clyde came from behind to beat Brora Rangers 2-1 so they could come out of the hat against Stranraer or Auchinleck Talbot. It was the same scoreline at the Bet Butler as the Sons beat the Blue Brazil to set up Culter or Berwick Rangers v Dumbarton. East Fife went out to Forfar Athletic by the same 2-1 scoreline and Forfar face another League One opponent in Brechin City next. Queen of the South edged past Championship league leaders Hamilton Academical by a single goal to set up their tie against St Mirren whilst the Binos got past Turriff United 3-0; they face Alloa Athletic next.

The ties I thought would go by dint of leagues they were in had Rangers getting through on the Friday 3 -0 against Airdrie so they now face Falkirk. Alloa Athletic beat Inverurie Locos 3-0 and now face Queen of the South whilst Ayr United beat Queen’s Park 3-2 and have Dunfermline in the next round; Dunfermline got past Elgin City 5-3 to make that happen. Finally the 3rd replay of the round came when Berwick Rangers couldn’t get past Culter and drew 1-1. The winners have Dumbarton next.
