Ramsdens Cup Quarter Final match preview –Tuesday 17th September 2013

With Annan Athletic, Raith Rovers and Stenhousemuir already through to the semi-final draw that will happen on Thursday at 12pm we now await a tie that last year saw the Doonhamers put out the Ibrox side.

This year is a very different proposition as Ally McCoist has managed to weave some consistency in the league form that makes the Rangers of 2013/14 far more formidable than they were last year.

Jim McIntyre’s side have already shown this year that they can cause a few shocks and will fancy their chances. Losing at the weekend though is hardly the perfect preparation and their league form has been very up and down in a league that is likely to be tighter at the end than it has started. The Dumfries side have less to lose in this battle than their visitors and this may be a help to them. How much of a help is debatable though when you see Rangers winning 5-1 against Arbroath at the weekend after giving the Red Lichties a goal of a start. It was also Lee McCulloch’s second hat trick in a row and his form is likely to be important in the progress or otherwise of Rangers tonight.

Prediction: I have to think that Rangers will go through but have a sneaky suspicion they might not, once again, have it all their own way.
