Scotland legend Julie Fleeting has been officially unveiled by Celtic Ladies ahead of the second half of the season starting this weekend, news which Scotzine broke on Tuesday night via our official twitter page.

Fleeting left the Ayrshire side in June when her registration was cancelled and has made the move up the M77 to play for Celtic as they look to close the gap on the top four clubs in the league.

Celtic, who are currently four points behind fourth placed Spartans and some 14 points behind league leaders Glasgow City, saw strike duo Emily Thomson and Suzanne Grant depart the club for various reasons.

Thomson signed for Eddie Wolecki Black’s Glasgow City side earlier in the mid-season break, while it was announced that Suzanne Grant was expecting her first child and could play no further part in Celtic’s season.

The signing of Fleeting is seen as a short-term fix to their limited options up front, as they continue to blood their young players coming through the ranks.

Fleeting signed for Kilwinning at the start of this season, following a spell out of the game following the birth of her second child. She spent nine years with Arsenal and has been capped 120 times for the Scotland women’s national side, scoring 116 goals.

The 32-year-old striker will go into the Celtic squad that will face Spartans this Sunday at Lennoxtown.
