A Kelvin Brawl in the Kelvin Hall – some top wrestling on the cards!

kelvinbrawlThis Friday night, Scotland’s legendary Kelvin Hall will play host one last time to a sporting occasion before it takes on its new form as one of the UK’s largest museums.

Strangely, it won’t be a boxing match or international athletics event taking place, but one of Scotland’s up-and-coming sports – wrestling! The show has been aptly named The Kelvin Brawl for the evening and is on course to be a sell out.

And it won’t just be some of the country’s top grapplers participating either – comedians Greg Hemphill and Robert Florence will be squaring off in the ring as well!

Both will have tag partners for their encounter; Hemphill with former Insane Championship Wrestling Champion Red Lightning whilst Florence teams with rising star Grado.

The winner of their Main Event match will be presented with the Kelvin Hall Memorial Trophy by none other than Scottish boxing legend Jim Watt, who is no stranger to the Kelvin Hall himself after fighting there numerous times in WBC Lightweight Championship action. So, it’s safe to say some of Scotland’s top names will be on show this weekend.

This event follows on from last year’s Oran War – also held in Glasgow – in which Team Florence came out on top over Team Hemphill by four matches to three. There’s no doubt Hemphill has revenge on his mind!

With wrestling growing in popularity at a tremendous rate in Scotland, many of the names on the bill will be familiar to the fans in attendance.

Experienced stars James Scott and Jack Jester face off in a No Disqualification Match which won’t be for the faint-hearted, whilst fellow established grapplers Wolfgang and Liam Thomson go into battle as well.

Also on the card is one of Europe’s best wrestlers ‘The Vigilante’ Johnny Moss who is up against top Scottish star Kid Fite, and talented duo Davey Blaze and B.T. Gunn also look to get the better of each other.

A generation clash will also be on the card, with a man who has both WWE and TNA experience, Lionheart, taking on his protégé, 19-year-old Noam Dar.

There’ll also be female action with Pro Wrestling: EVE Champion Nikki Storm facing W3L and GSW Champion Carmel, in what is sure to be a physical battle between two fierce competitors.

The Kelvin Brawl is a must-see event if you’re a wrestling fan and sure-fire entertainment even if you’re not. This is certain to be a fantastic send off to one of Scotland’s finest venues.
