Ten rounds with Jon Slowey

boxing1On the 11th May at the Glasgow Emirates Arena, Glasgow Featherweight Jon Slowey shall be on the undercard of the Ricky Burns fight. Never heard of him? Well here we go 10 rounds with the UK’s number 6th-rated featherweight.

Round 1

Slowey has fought all 13 of his wins in Scotland.

Round 2

He beat durable journeyman Delroy Spencer over four rounds

Round 3

In his 13 fights he has beaten James Ancliff twice

Round 4

His fight on the 11th shall be his 3rd contest this year.

Round 5

On the 16th February this year he won the International Masters Featherweight title over 10 rounds against Iain Bailey.

Round 6

His older brother, Stephen was also a boxer who boxed abroad and was five times the Scottish ABA champion.

Round 7

Jon was previously a Youth Coach for Celtic FC.

Round 8

A failed drugs test stopped him from competing at the 2009 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

Round 9

In 2011 Alex Morrison – someone who can spot a champ or two – hailed him as the next big Scottish fighter.

Round 10

His target for 2013 is to fight for a British title; current British title holder is Lee Selby. Selby also holds the Commonwealth crown and is due to fight twice in June….
