There was a glut of goals in the SWPL’s late kick off as Hutchison Vale visited Station Park. Alana Bruce fired the opening salvo for Farmington within half a minute, her shot sailing just over Danni Downs crossbar. At the other end Ellie Welton had to look alert to save two efforts from the visitors, the end of end nature of the opening spell becoming a recurring theme as the match progressed.

Amy Doyle had to scramble the ball away from danger in the sixth minute as Hutchison Vale threatened to open the scoring, whilst at the other end Caroline Heron fired into the hands of Downs after some good work from Aimee Godfrey.

Michelle Russell fired into the side netting on the quarter-hour mark, and flashed another shot wide four minutes later. Farmington suffered a blow in the 20th minute when Alana Bruce was substituted through injury – Nivana Crighton taking coming on in her place.

Farmington took the lead in scrappy fashion in the 29th minute when a clipped ball into the box found Godfrey who did well to knock the ball home. Nicola Davidson tried a trademark long-range effort, but Downs saved comfortably. On the stroke of half time some industrious work from Lucy Graham teed up Abbi Grant who fired her effort straight at Downs.

The visitors equalised early in the second half, when Michelle Russell converted in fine fashion, but Farmington restored their lead in the 57th minute when Heron disposed the visiting backline before firing a low shot past the visiting goalkeeper.

Four minutes later Godfrey netted her own double when a fantastic cross from Julia Scott was dropped by Downs – Godfrey quick on her toes to fire the loose ball home. Ellie Welton expertly tipped a well struck free kick from the visitors over the bar three minutes later as the visitors looked to close the gap once more.

However their efforts were dashed as Farmington netted a quick fire double. First Heron nodded home a Scott cross, then Scott herself netted her own goal – beating a visiting defender to the ball before producing a composed finish past Downs.

Hutchison Vale doubled their goal tally in the 71st minute when Laura Gavin crashed home from close range. Farmington would have further chances before the final whistle; great play from Nicky Grant teeing up Godfrey who fired straight at Downs – Godfrey unfortunate once more to see another effort sail just wide with two minutes left on the clock.
