Accies players called up to represent Scotland

Hamilton Accies SWPL stars Megan Cunningham and Carolina Richardson have been named in the Scotland squad for the UEFA women’s Under-19 Championship elite round, to be played between the 2nd and the 9th of April.

Scotland qualified for the second round after finishing runners-up in Group Five behind Norway, winning 2 of there 3 games last October, including an 8-0 drubbing of Belarus, with Accies striker Richardson scoring twice.

The young Scot’s find themselves with a tough draw in Group Three where they will play host to Austria, Denmark and Ukraine, with the match against Ukraine to be played at New Douglas Park, home of Hamilton Accies.

Seventeen year old Hamilton Accies goalkeeper Megan Cunningham has also played a significant part in the National side’s qualification including keeping a clean sheet in Scotland’s 1-0 victory over Russia last March.

With both girls having ambitions to progress into Anna Signeul’s full National side, it is a testament to the coaching staff at HAWFC that their dedication is producing International standard players.
