Undefeated welterweight Mark Parvin ready for Ravenscraig return

Wishaw welterweight Mark Parvin insists that he is looking forward to returning to the venue where he had one of his greatest amateur achievements.

The 18-year-old, who scored back to back wins over veteran journeymen Sid Razak and Johnny Greaves after turning pro last October, will have his third professional contest at Ravenscraig Sports Facility in Motherwell on March 8.

The show is headlined by Gary McCallum’s bout with Paul Allison for the vacant Scottish middleweight title and Parvin believes there will be an electric atmosphere at Ravenscraig on the night.

He said: “I am very excited about fighting at Ravenscraig as a professional. I am no stranger to the venue and I fought there loads of times as an amateur and won the UK Youth Championships there a few years ago. It’s a great venue and the sort of venue that when full, really is a cauldron of noise.

“All I am focusing on is March 8th, I haven’t got a sparring partner arranged yet so we’re working on that but my strength and conditioning is coming along nicely.”

“I am looking forward to a busy 2013, with hopefully loads of fights but I am not overlooking my first one on March 18th.”

Parvin features on a ten fight undercard which also includes unbeaten prospects Iain Butcher, Rhys Pagan and Jordan McCorry.

Tickets are priced at £30 (unreserved) and £40 (ringside), further details are available from www.prospectboxing.com and www.facebook.com/ProspectBoxing and on Twitter @ProspectBoxing
