Local duo return to Forfar after stint at Celtic

SWPL outfit Forfar Farmington have made their first signings of 2013 as they snapped up Holly Napier and Nivana Crighton. The players, who are from the local area, rejoin Mark Nisbet’s side following a stint with Celtic Ladies, having moved to the Glasgow side back in 2010.

Scotland youth internationalist Napier started her career with a highly successfully Arbroath Inchcape girls side where she was a prolific goal scorer alongside new teammate Abbi Grant.

Speaking on her return to Farmington Holly said: “Having had a couple of training sessions, I’ve now met most of the girls and I really can’t wait for the season to get started. The standard of the players is really high and there is going to be real competition for places. Hopefully that will help us match up to, and maybe improve, on last season’s performance.”

Wide player Crighton, having had a long career with Forfar’s youth sides also spent some time at Celtic, which saw Nivana gain youth international recognition and feature for the Glasgow side’s first team on a number of occasions.

She added: “I’m really happy to be back at Forfar. Everything has been great and it’s really easy to get excited about the coming season which will hopefully be another successful one for the team.”

Head Coach Mark Nisbet was understandably delighted to have both players back at the club, he commented: “Both players have developed during their spell at Celtic, and return to us with the benefit of additional valuable experience of SWPL football. I’m excited to be working with them and looking forward to helping them both develop further as players.”
