Scottish Cup Replays – Preview

Five SFL teams didn’t manage to get through the third round of the Scottish Cup last weekend so they go into a replay today. Of the 3 teams facing non league teams, all are likely to be difficult for the SFL teams. Which will look most likely to win and which will likely to go out? Hard to say…

Brechin City had to come back from behind but a David Dunn own goal and Andy Jackson got them a replay. Bonnyrigg Rose v Brechin City should be simple enough for the visitors but this was a view held by them a week ago. Now it isn’t. Two of the teams in replays today were suckered at the end of 90 minutes with Arbroath being 3-1 up with 5 minutes to go before ending up at 3-3. Paul Currie, Neil McLean and Darren Gribben got them ahead. Arbroath v Inverurie Locos could be a tough one for the Smokies. Nairn County v Forfar Athletic had Nairn getting the equaliser in stoppage time. Chris Templeman, Gavin Swankie and Stephen Tulloch had them in the driving seat. Again this is likely to be difficult tie for Forfar especially as they are travelling to Nairn. Finally the all SFL replay between Queens Park v Stranraer saw single goals from Craig Malcolm for Stranraer and 1 for the Spiders from David Anderson. It looks like the new manager of Stranraer could further build on his good start by getting into the 4th round. Stephen Aitken will be keen to keep up the momentum and that might pull the team through.
