SFL Division Three Weekend Preview – 6th October 2012

0

Third division sides through have some interesting ties: –

Rangers v Alloa Athletic
Elgin City v East Fife
Buckie Thistle/Annan Athletic v Turriff United
Dumbarton v East Stirlingshire
Stranraer v Queen’s Park
Forfar Athletic v Clyde/Nairn County
Stirling Albion v Deveronvale
Stenhousemuir v Berwick Rangers

Game of the Day

Peterhead v Berwick Rangers

An away tie to Deveronvale should have been an easy away day for the Blue Toon and as goals from Smith and Deasley were consolations rather than a battling effort it was even worse than the scoreline suggested. For the Borderers an away day to Stenhousemuir is reward for their 1-0 win at home to Wick Academy. Lee Currie got a penalty in the 84th minute.

Thoughts

Peterhead will have to get back on track and now without any cup competitions in which they have an interest it is time to make the league and 2nd place THE priority. Berwick struggled to get through the 2nd round last weekend. This is the one game they could do without if they wanted to recover.

Montrose v East Stirlingshire

Montrose were shock 3-1 losers to Edinburgh City last weekend whilst East Stirlingshire recorded a 2-1 away win at Fraserburgh.

Thoughts

Last season both of these teams were basement strugglers and each will have hoped that this season would be a break from the norm… There have been highs and the usual lows so it is hard to know which team will triumph today…

Stirling Albion v Rangers

The Binos managed a magnificent 5-0 win away to Dalbeattie Star last weekend whilst Rangers struggled past Forres Mechanics, mid you it was away from home…

Scottish Cup Replays

Annan Athletic v Buckie Thistle and Nairn County v Clyde should see 2 3rd division sides going through but both of the Highland teams showed last weekend they are far from pushovers. I think Clyde will have the biggest task and Annan at home on plastic should have enough… Should…
