Rangers sign Faure as Goian and Edu head out

Faure, was a free agent after he was released by Lyon last season. After a two week trial at Murray Park, manager Ally McCoist has signed the defender and pending clearance could play on Sunday against Berwick Rangers in their Third Division league clash.

The former French youth international came through the ranks at Lyon progressing into their senior squad. He did make appearances for the French outfit in the French League Cup, but failed to make a single appearance in Ligue One.

The youngster while fully fit now, was hampered last season with a broken toe which prevented him taking to the field for Nantes while on loan from Lyon.

He will now challenge for a place in the heart of the Rangers defence, but that challenge has lessened with the surprise departure of Dorin Goian on loan to Serie B outfit Spezia.

The Romanian defender has left Ibrox, a year after moving to Glasgow from Palermo and will move back to Italy to join up with the Serie B new boys.

Meanwhile want-away American midfielder Maurice Edu is being linked with not only a move to Ipswich Town but also Premiership side Stoke City, according to the Rangers official website.

The American has not featured for Rangers this season, and with his international place at threat with the World Cup less than two years away, the midfielder is looking to move on to pastures new.
