Glasgow City relaxed and confident ahead of their Champions League clash

City will face the Croatian champions tomorrow, with kick off at 4pm GMT, in the first of three games in Group Eight of the UEFA Women’s Champions League first round.

With only the winners of the group guaranteed qualification to the knock out stages, first team coach Kat Lindner is more than aware of the importance of the match, having helped the Glasgow side in previous european adventures, including last season’s inspirational progression to the last 16 of the competition before they came unstuck by German crack side FFC Turbine Potsdam.

Lindner said: “We have had a good trip and settled in well so far. Everyone seems really relaxed and confident, we got a couple of good training session under our belt today and we hope this is going to carry over into the game. We are aware that we are in arguably the toughest qualifying group and everyone knows that only three quality performances will give us a chance of progression.

“We have done quite a bit of background research on tomorrow’s opponents and there is no doubt that they are a decent team with some very good players. But we are well prepared and hope that our previous European experience of playing in high pressure matches and the hard work of the last few months will see us get the win we want tomorrow.”

The City team have a lot to live up to, given the performances from the side in last season’s competition and you can follow all the live action via City’s official twitter page @GlasgowCityFC or their facebook site @Glasgowcity Fc.
