After securing Hayes’ signature, Dons manager Craig Brown said: “I am just delighted he is joining us. People have asked if he is the first of several or many. He is the first one and we may get another couple of players but even if we don’t I think we have a good enough squad to start the season.”

Hayes joined Inverness back in 2009 after making the move from English side Leicester City. Last season he made 30 appearances for Caley, scoring nine times.

Brown added: “I am just delighted he is joining us. People have asked if he is the first of several or many. He is the first one and we may get another couple of players but even if we don’t I think we have a good enough squad to start the season.

“Jonny Hayes will give us a new dimension, something that was lacking. We needed someone to go past people in a wide area and get crosses in. He is exactly what we are looking for. Now we can add to that if possible but without adding to it I think we can be much stronger than last season.”
