Scotzine Awards 2012: Vote for your Player, Young Player, Manager & Fans Group of the Year

Posted by

We have been running a wee thing via our twitter called #scotzineawards2012 in which we asked our twitter followers to nominate their choices for the following categories: player of the year, young player of the year, goalkeeper of the year, manager of the year, fans group of the year, SFL manager of the year, SFL player of the year, SFL young player of the year and womens footballer of the year.

After several days of receiving nominations via twitter and with the deadline closing at midnight last night, we have now launched the voting stage of the Scotzine Awards 2012. Please note that the choices under each category have been nominated by our twitter followers and not by the Scotzine hierarchy, these are after all the fans awards and we do not wish to impose any player or manager on the voting public just because of allegiances that we may or may not have.

The nominations are as follows and you can vote under each relevant category:

Manager of the Year
Neil Lennon (Celtic), Stuart McCall (Motherwell), Kenny Shiels (Kilmarnock), Peter Houston (Dundee United), Ally McCoist (Rangers).

  • This is a great opportunity for real fans to voice their views on National awards. Thanks

  • Tainted awards, they have obviously been hijacked by a certain teams supporters. While most of the awards could have went to Dundee Utd players, no one in their right mind could suggest P Houston as manager of the year.

    • aye right! What has Lennon done bar win a tainted title? If it weren’t for rangers woes, he would’ve been sacked! With no money and all their best players leaving, Dundee United are still in contention for a Champions League position? The man is a liability, not just to Celtic, but to the whole of Scottish Football – what a total disgrace he is.

      • Alloaarab – if Lennon has won a tainted title then IF Dundee United secure a Champions League place then is that not tainted also given that Rangers have been barred from Europe? You can’t have it one way and not the other. If Celtic won a tainted title then United would secure a tainted European place. You will find the disgrace being those who attack Lennon, who abuse him. Lennon has done nothing that any other manager in Scottish football history has not done, yet he is public enemy number one for most Scottish football fans – why is that?

Scottish football hasnt seen arrogant managers before? Hasnt seen managers celebrating before? Hasnt seen managers being outspoken before? Hasnt seen managers complain about referees.

        • Tainted Title????

The only tainted titles are those “won” by a team that paid players off the books to gain an unfair advantage. Did your team not loose 2 cup finals to the same team/ You won’t want them awarded to you will you?

        • i agree andy and im a utd fan. although i did vote for PH simply for the reason that utd did lose arguably their best players last season and to be where we are is all down to PH. Not a tainted title just a title win !!

  • Good voting structure Scotzine. Keep up the good work !

  • Some absolute ridiculous voting on this site , Peter Houston as manager of the year really embarrassing i think there must be a big bit of a wind up going on !!!

  • Talk of a tainted title this year is nonsense. Rangers have tainted Scottish football. We had a bad enough reputation outside Scotland already but Rangers have made us a joke.

Whatever position Rangers finish in, then it is that league position that is tainted. If they come 2nd then they are the tainted runners-up.

Neil Doncaster said Hearts had an onfield advantage for their financial mis-management. The same logic applies for Rangers. Whatever position they finish in, they have had an unfair advantage over the teams that finished below them.
    Tainted runners-up.

  • Is there a Director of the year category , so I can vote for Craig Whyte?

  • Charlie Mulgrew winning player of the year is a joke (it shoulda been Jon Daly 2nd top goalscorer & playing for a team thats neither of the old firm).

Stuart McCall prob shouda won manager o the year considering his team have no money but still finished 3rd & Neil Lennon’s team got beaten from Kiliie in 1 final & from Hearts in 1 semi final & yeh they won the league but would they have if Rangers were not on the mess they ended up in & after all the grief he has giving 2 referees this season makes u wonder why he even got nominated in the 1st place.

  • the young player of the should either b James Forrest (Celtic) or Gary Mackay Steven (Dundee United)
