Celtic’s Cha Du-ri loses appeal over sending off in derby

Referee Calum Murray sent the defender off in the first half of Celtic’s 3-2 defeat to rivals Rangers, after he was adjudged to have hauled back Rangers midfielder Lee Wallace at the edge of the box and deemed it to be an obvious goalscoring opportunity.

A fast track tribunal at Hampden this morning rejected Cha’s appeal and a one match ban has been imposed with immediate effect, which means that the Korean will miss Sunday’s game against St.Johnstone at Celtic Park.

Team mate Victor Wanyama was also sent off in the same game and was handed a two match ban, which will begin with immediate effect also. Celtic did not appeal against the Kenyan’s sending off in the second half of the derby.
