MacDonald signed from Musselburgh Athletic in 2003 and made his debut for Hearts first team against Rangers at Ibrox in August 2008.
Slovakian keeper Marian Kello, who looks set to leave Tynecastle this summer, has kept MacDonald out of the first team this season, despite the former Scotland Under-21 internationalist being the club’s Number One keeper at the end of last season.
The highlight of his Tynecastle career so far, is arguably the 0-0 draw at White Hart Lane against Tottenham Hotspur in the club’s second leg of the Europa League play-off back in August, which saw the keeper save a first half penalty from the English Premier League side.
