Aberdeen have announced the signing of midfielder Gavin Rae from First Division Dundee on an eighteen month deal. The 34-year-old returns to his hometown, to the club he has always supported.
Aberdeen Chief Executive Duncan Fraser stated: “I have nothing but the highest praise for the way Dundee conducted themselves in this transfer. They were desperate to keep Gavin and pulled out all the stops to do so but when it was obvious he wanted to come to Aberdeen, they were first class in making sure there were no unnecessary delays.”
Rae began his senior career at Dundee, before making the move to Rangers in 2004. After spending three years at Ibrox he moved to Championship side Cardiff City.
He left Cardiff last summer and signed for Dundee for a second time.
The former Scotland international is cup-tied and is ineligible to play in Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie against Queen of the South.
