A statement on the official Berwick Rangers website said: “Berwick Rangers formally announce that Club Manager Jimmy Crease has tendered his resignation with immediate effect.”

Assistant manager Ian Little will be in charge of first team affairs until further notice.

The statement continued: “The Board wish to place on record their appreciation of all the efforts put in by Mr. Crease over many years at Berwick, not only as Club Manager but in other capacities and wish him well.”

On his resignation Crease said: “It was a terrible result and a terrible performance and I fell it is the right thing to do. This has been my fourth spell as a manager here, and it will be my last, and to be honest I have enjoyed every time but I feel it is time to give someone else the chance to bring success here.”

He added: “The directors have backed me well since I came back as manager a couple of years ago and I would like to thank the Chairman Brian Porteous and the other Directors for their support over this and other issues at this time.”
