Scottish Premier League 2011/12 fixtures released

The Scottish Premier League have published the fixture list for Season 2011-12. Reigning SPL Champions Rangers will play host to Jim Jefferies Hearts side, while Celtic will travel to Edinburgh to play Hibernian on the 23rd July.

St.Johnstone travel north to Aberdeen and Motherwell host Inverness. First Division Champions Dunfermline kick off their SPL season against St.Mirren, with both sides destined to battle against relegation.

Dundee United and Kilmarnock fans will have to wait a day later to see their clubs kick off the new season, as Killie travel to Tannadice.

The first Old Firm derby of the season is currently set for Saturday 17th September at Ibrox, however it is expected that the tie will be changed to an early kick off on Sunday 18th for Television coverage. And the traditional New Year Derby didn’t last long, as the ‘Joint Action Group’ requested the SPL to move the clash. So the second derby of the season will take place on Wednesday 28th December at Celtic Park. And the third is set for Saturday 24th March at Ibrox, although once again it will either be an early kick off or be moved to Sunday 25th. The fourth will come after the split.

The Edinburgh Derby matches will be held on August 27th [Tynecastle], January 2nd [Easter Road] and the third on March 17th [Tynecastle].

The season will end on the weekend of the 12th & 13th of May 2012.
